Sam and I spent a lazy Sunday wandering around the botanical gardens at Huntington Library. After hours of walking, my new mesh Miista booties proved to be the sensible summer shoe I've been looking for.  I like the way they pair with fluttery dresses and dress down pouffy mini skirts, while managing to not kill my feet. All signs point to the makings of a great shoe.

Hooray for easy summer dressing!

As you've probably noticed, Sam and I finally gained entrance unto our roof. We were pleasantly surprised to find a bbq already up there. We plan to follow suite and get our bbq on this weekend, aka Carmagedon to anyone in LA this weekend. Speaking of Carmagedon, did you know there is an app for that? and that JetBlue is (already sold out) offering $4 flights between the Long Beach and Burbank airports b/c of it? Yeah. uhuh. Welcome to LA.

It's too hot for anything but easy breezy outfits that require little to no thought on my part.

My uniform has become a varied version of this look. The formula goes something like this: loose bottoms + tied up top + 1 statement piece = out the door.  In the summer I tend to lean towards simple separates and statement dresses. I like throwing something on and running out into the sunshine. 

P.S. I'm totally obsessed with this necklace (pictured above) that we got in at Threadsence. Talk about a statement piece.

Summer's in full swing and the heat waves keep on comin'.

Tall Boys

Over the weekend we decide to play tourists with our friends. We did stereotypically Santa Cruz activities the summer crowd swears by, including drinking cheap beer on the beach, drinking cheap beer on the Boardwalk and dominating at little kid arcade games while drinking cheap beer. Moral of the story? Drinking cheap beer makes everything better.

The weekend was made perfect with visits from old friends. It was everything we wanted and needed.
