mellow yellow

(pants-Urban Outfitters, button down-J.Crew, hat-Urban Outfitters, shoes-Pour La Victoire, necklace-c/o Lauren Elan, bracelets-DIY, bangle-Fine Art of Design, sunnies-c/o Norma Kamali)

Another example of my formula hard at work.
Hooray for easy summer dressing!
As you've probably noticed, Sam and I finally gained entrance unto our roof. We were pleasantly surprised to find a bbq already up there. We plan to follow suite and get our bbq on this weekend, aka Carmagedon to anyone in LA this weekend. Speaking of Carmagedon, did you know there is an app for that? and that JetBlue is (already sold out) offering $4 flights between the Long Beach and Burbank airports b/c of it? Yeah. uhuh. Welcome to LA.

*UPDATE* I'm beyond thrilled and honored to be nominated for Most Coveted Closet in the Polyvore Blogger Awards. Please vote for me (or anyone of the other AMAZING bloggers nominated, I'm in good company) by creating a set inspired by one of my looks. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your vote!

rainy days

It's been raining like crazy lately, so I'm entertaining myself with magazines, cooking, and trying out new shades of lipstick. Whenever I find a new lip color I want to try I buy a cheap version first. I where it around and see if it "fits". If it's a winner, I buy a nicer version and throw the cheap one into one of my bags as a back up. This time I decided on rich purple and coral orange.

setting sun

Another sunset from the road trip.
It's finally Friday. I always have such high hopes for my weekends. I make long to do lists and ruminate on the most efficient order in which to run my errands. Most of those lists end up untouched. There seems to always be something better to do.
Hopefully this weekend will be different...
Weather forecast says it wont.

are you sick of my coat yet?

(dress- Topshop, shoes- Alexander Wang, sunglasses- Yves Saint Laurent, bag- Zara, coat-H&M)
I know I've been wearing this coat nonstop, but I can't help it. It's so damn warm and it goes with everything. I love finding pieces that become instant favorites, like my Alexander Wang mules and this leopard coat. It's money well spent. Cost per wear, that's how I justify it.

The Asos Styling Competition is up on their Facebook and I need you to "Like" my entry!
It would mean the world!
Thank you! xo

blocking color

(red pants- Asos, sweater- Asos, cuff-Asos, shoes- Alexander Wang, coat- H&M)
My outfit for the Asos styling competition.
I wanted to do a modern take on 70's classics. Something minimal and bright, but with small details referencing the period.
A leopard coat, mules and turban seemed like fun choices for the 70's.

Burnt

(pants-c/o American Apparel, sweater- Zara, jacket-H&M, wedge booties-H&M, socks-ASOS, necklace- Forever 21)
I love those mornings when an outfit just naturally comes together. Today was just like that. I layered on whatever looked warm and ran out the door without being late for work. I love easy dressing.
Speaking of work, Chictopia is running a really cool contest with the Olsen twin's Olsenboye line. The winner will be picked by MK and Ashley to star in the Olsenboye spring campaign, and will be invited to join Olsenboye's shoot with up to $2000 of travel expenses reimbursed. Interested? Check it out here.

A Threadsence Winter Day

Just in case you haven't checked out the Threadsence winter lookbook...

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

follow up

(sweater, vest, bag-Zara, skirt- c/o American Apparel, necklaces-vintage, shoes-Surface to Air, tights-H&M)
This skirt gives me Easter egg butt. I'm ok with that.
Someone told me we would be having a dry winter, my first thought was "Ooh! I can buy suede".

finally...

(via boymeetsgirl)
I finally got my hands on a few photos from the Boy Meets Girl fashion show I walked in.
It was an interesting experience. Stacy knows how to put on a great show. Although I had a lot of fun, I don't think I'll be doing anything like that again.
I ran into some funny little celebrities backstage, a lot of Housewives, Entourage and even Jersey Shore(?!) castmates.
I also ran into Danny and David Roberts. Danny had designed a couple of beautiful dresses for the other designer in the show.
Here's his sketch of one of the designs.
(via igor+andre)

Update: Some of you have been asking why I wouldn't want to walk in a show again. It's just not for me, too many people and cameras. I like watching the runway shows.

Closet Stories

I truly hate doing videos. I feel awkward and unnatural. At least the editing in this video is fantastic and Linguine looks adorable. A huge thank you to bloglovin for coming over and taking a peek.
Don't judge, video-awkwardness is a real disease.

You can see more closet stories on their blog.
